The Unique NYC Lexicon

There are words and/or expressions that are unique to regions and localities. In NYC we have a whole list of neighborhoods that are known by their acronyms...like Soho (south of Houston), Noho (north of Houston), Tribeca (the triangle below canal), DUMBO (down under the Manhattan bridge) etc. Coming home on the #6 train this afternoon, I realized that there is a word that I have never seen anywhere else....rodenticide! It appears on warning posters that hang all around the subway stations. Please let me know if you have seen this word used in other cities and tell me any other words or phrases that are unique to NYC that you can think of. Don't include things like "Fuggedaboutit" because, since The Sopranos, it is no longer unique!

rodenticide... absolutely one of my favorite nyc words!!!!! it's probably killed all the alligators that have lived underground for years (unwanted pets flushed into the sewer system)...
